| This handsome chestnut by Mutakddim out of the El Prado mare Sommerfest recently broke his maiden on the Belmont lawn for Linda Rice in just his second start. After a promising juvenile debut where he finished a fast closing fifth after a troubled trip going a mile on the lawn, Legend followed up with an impressive win. After racing near the back of the pack in a 12-horse field, Legend put in a 5-wide bit on the far turn. Once straightened out for the stretch run, he responded to Richard Migliore's urging and blew past the leader to win by three expanding lengths in an impressive time of 1:23.32. After this sparkling effort, our hopes for Legend remain high. Then, on November 10th, Linda breezed him 4-furlongs on Belmont's main track in a bullet :48.05. This was the best of 64 works at the distance!! | | |
